About
Who is Micaella?
Photography isn't just what I do, it's who I am. Photos capture a moment in time, whether the moment is seemingly significant at the time or not, it stops time and becomes significant.
The moments we photograph are often erased by our minds and replaced with updated versions of the people, places and things as time progresses.
As we look back at photographs, we are able to remember so much about that time; feelings, scents, songs, worries, celebrations, and triumphs that are rarely truly cherished until glancing at the photo once more. With all that significance it also gives us a mirror to see who we were in the world at that moment just as everyone else saw us.
I do not specialize in a particular type of photography, people are what draw me to photography.
Just like people’s lives, moments vary and specializing in a particular type I feel will only inhibit my love for taking pictures.
I have done weddings, candid family moments, formal family moments, fashion and glamour. Enjoying photographing varying moments and events helps me keep an open mind in shooting a subject or a moment. This doesn’t diminish my skills as a photographer but I believe it enhances them.
An equally strong passion of mine is computers. In addition to taking moments and capturing them I also to do re-touching, from the most delicate change to the most drastic. Your preference will be my direction.
With these skills, I do not take either of them less seriously than the other. From the moment we choose your location and set up, click the camera to the moment I edit your images, or finish the last page of your online gallery, every step is meticulous and well thought out.
I hope I will be able to photograph the memories in YOUR life!

Behind the Photo: Photographer Micaella Martinez Grant
How have we not yet heard of Micaella-ella-ella? Get used to it people. If her name doesnt get stuck in your head like the famous beat, her pictures will. Micaella Martinez Grant is a force to be reckoned with. Her display of raw talent will not go unnoticed.
I had the privilege of spending the day with this energetic rising star. I showed up at Micaellas suburban abode with a box full of my most favorite wardrobe pieces to contribute to the shoot and her enthusiasm was contagious. My role as a writer quickly morphed into styling assistant as Micaella and I discussed the concept for model Catherine Stella Chuter. As we shuffled through the array of vintage frocks and 80s thrift store finds that had taken over the living room, Micaella whispered I cant believe I found her! referring of course to Amazonian like beauty, Catherine. After a search on the website Model Mayhem, the two clicked instantly; Micaella had found her muse.
The self proclaimed Photographer of life had much more to display than her love for photography. She is a one-woman show taking on the role of producer, stylist, makeup artist, director and editor. With a very distinct concept, Micaella is vocal about what she wants out of her pictures. She feeds off of the energy of her model and begins to capture her vision through her NIKON D700 lens. The shoot was located deep within Livermores wine country at the historical ruins of Ravenswood Winery. The environment was a far cry from cliché; the set combined old dynasty glamour with rustic authenticity. I like to see the model in a setting that is uncomfortable before I give direction Micaella says before she jumps into action...and she does so quite literally. I watched the shoot unfold while Micaella climbed, squatted, and crawled to discover the perfect angle for her shots. Equally committed, Catherine rolled around on a pile of recycled irrigating pipes and teetered on top of a table with nothing to balance on but a rope. I should mention she did all of this in a full length, vintage sequin dress and 4-inch Sergio Zelcer pumps. Together, the two of them worked at a fast pace, creating photos that are fabulously artistic and exude sophisticated glamour.
The eclectic and stylish mother of three has proven to be one of the most versatile photographers in the business. After scanning her website at www.micaella.net, this became clear as her scope of work ranges from street to high fashion. You will have trouble labeling her style, for this is a woman who will not be pinned down. Micaella admits I dont mind whoring myself out for commercial shoots to pay the bills however, she separates herself as a talent that is unique and fiercely competitive in her finishing work. The creative use of lighting, and the skill Micaella possesses as a photo editor, proves she is more than just a photographer of life; she is someone who is seasoned, passionate, and inspiring.
